Ratindra Das Workshop
The Ratindra Das workshop will be September 22-26 at the Gaddis Group studio in Jackson. Call Ann Gourlay (601-982-2511) or Sally Todd (601-982-7095) to reserve your position now. The cost will be $375 for the 5-day workshop. Carry your painting to a new level of expression and paint a personal reality. No gimmicks, just learn simple truths and secrets about the medium of watercolor from this award winning artist. Free yourself and demystify old cliches (a blue/grey sky, stretching paper, 200 or 300 pound papers, focal points, linear perspective, etc. ) Don't be a control freak or have a master-slave relationship with the medium. The only one abiding rule is to not make a "boring" picture. Learn how to make a painting interesting from an uninteresting photograph. Use colors intuitively instead of copying from photos or from nature. Ratindra will lead paint-along sessions and give daily demonstrations explaining values, shapes and colors and plenty of personal attention. Below you see some of the artists who showed at our 2007 Grand National Watercolor Exhibition and came to our opening reception. While most of the artists are from Mississippi, exhibitors from Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Virginia also came to the reception.
Beyond this page, you can go to the About MSWS page to read our mission, to learn how to join our Society, who are our officers, and what our working calendar looks like. On the Grand National page, you can gain access to Exhibition's prospectus and view the paintings for the 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 Exhibitions. You can also see who are our current Signature Members from that page.
